Balgownie is a 125 acre property overlooking the King River near Albany in Western Australia. It was first farmed by the Gibb family in 1893 and was named "Balgownie" after a bridge in Scotland near where the family once lived.

Balgownie was the first farm on the King River but two years later Mr Carl Friebe came from Horsham in Victoria near the Grampian Ranges and commenced farming on a larger property across the river. Today his great-great-great grandchildren live on Balgownie making them the sixth generation of the Friebe family to live on the King River.
The Davey family purchased Balgownie in 1987 having previously farmed in the
Torbay/ Redmond area west of Albany.
